Kim Murray selected to represent Great Britain at World Championships
Yesterday the British team for next week’s World Championships was announced and Kim Murray has been selected for the squad, representing Great Britain for the first time at the event.
This is an exciting finale to Kim’s fantastic season. Last week Kim finished 10th at the European Championships in Sigulda with two personal bests; “Sigulda is not a track I expected to get a top ten finish on and I am very pleased with my performance.” As a result Kim is now ranked 17th in the World, with the season’s showcase event still to come.
Competing at the World Championships is a positive step forward in the journey to Beijing 2022 – the Olympics are now less than 2 years away and sights are set on medals!
The World Championships take place in Germany Thursday 27 – Saturday 29 February, with the heats for the Women’s event starting on Friday morning. Full coverage will be available from IBSF (International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation): https://www.ibsf.org/en/component/events/event/500517
SWRnewstar has sponsored Kim since 2018 and we’ll be paying close attention next week – good luck!
UPDATE: Kim finished 23rd at the World Championships in Altenburg. Unfortunately the weather conditions were challenging all week and the first run of three didn't go to plan.
Kim commented: “I am still very proud to have been selected for my first World Championships. I am focussed on the big picture which is Beijing 2022 and this last week taught me some important lessons for next year in Lake Placid and hopefully Beijing in 2022. There are positives to take from the week, I can learn from it and be stronger in the long run.”
Congratualtions on a fantastic season and look forward to the next one.
